Labyrinth Lost

July 2022 - November 2022

Labyrinth Lost is a PC First-person Puzzle Walking-simulator developed in Unreal Engine 5 as a submission for Tencent's Game Design contest, and we won the award for Best Values among 50+ teams. Players will experience the life stages of an Alzheimer's patient and traverse through cinematic environments to restore her memory.

  • Designed and implemented two levels with cinematic experiences to deliver greater immersion.

  • Collaborated with other designers to plan out the game's pace and intended emotions for each level.

Designing Player's Experience

  • ​Separated players' life stages into 5 levels each with a unique experience goal driven by emotion.

  • Collaborated with other designers to create a consistent emotional arc across the levels.

  • Set-dressed the levels and executed on my vision for 3 of the levels.

  • Utilized various elements to build tension and deliver cinematic encounters.

Developing Tools and Systems

  • Engineered features and tools to support design processes and iterations.

  • Built a generic and easily expandable interaction system to allow rooms for customized actions that are consistent.

  • Created a dialogue system with additional functions to support various forms of dialogue display.

  • Created a spline tool to move objects with the ability to pause at any selected point on the spline.
